Patrick Nadin bookended the scoring for Newcastle, netting the first and final goals of the night, while Wehebe Darge stole the show with a hat trick, scoring twice in the opening period and completing his three-goal performance in the third.
Period two saw Liam Manwarring and Tim Stanger contribute to the tally, with Stanger’s goal leveling the score heading into the second intermission. Despite their strong showing in game one, the Northstars fell short in a hard-fought contest, with the Rhinos taking a 2-1 victory. Newcastle’s sole goal came in period two, courtesy of Casey Kubara, who continues to be a key figure for the team.

With the exhibition series wrapped up, Newcastle now shifts focus to their opening weekend of the AIHL regular season. The Northstars will travel to Perth for a double-header against the Thunder on April 5th and 6th, kicking off what promises to be a thrilling season.
